Viktoria Tocca is a Swedish singer, musical theatre performer, producer, and entrepreneur. With a passion for music and the performing arts, she has built a distinguished career both nationally and internationally, combining her role as a performer with running her own production company, Tocca Entertainment.

Early Life and Influences

Raised in a musical family, Viktoria's grandfather was a traditional fiddler in Hälsingland, and her father served as marketing director at the legendary record label CBS Records. This environment gave her a natural connection to the world of music and early exposure to global artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, George Michael, Mariah Carey, and Michael Jackson.

From a young age, she showed a strong interest in music and performing. She studied at Adolf Fredrik’s Music School, one of Sweden’s top institutions for young musical talent, and continued her education in the arts program at Tibble Gymnasium in Täby. She then moved on to the Ballet Academy in Gothenburg, graduating after three years of intensive training in singing, dance, and acting.

International Musical Theatre Success

Viktoria’s international breakthrough came in 2000 when she was cast as Empress Elisabeth “Sissi” in the world premiere of the German mega-musical Ludwig II. The following year, she landed the coveted role of Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera, becoming one of the youngest singers ever approved for the role by Andrew Lloyd Webber himself. Her portrayal of Christine was praised by both audiences and critics, cementing her place in the musical theatre world.

Throughout her career, Viktoria has taken on leading roles in productions such as Kristina från Duvemåla (in the title role), Evita, and The Bridges of Madison County. Her powerful vocal range and captivating stage presence have made her one of Sweden’s most sought-after musical theatre artists abroad.

Solo Artist Viktoria Tocca

In addition to her musical theatre work, Viktoria has also enjoyed great success as a solo artist. Her first chart success came in 2004 with the duet I ljus och mörker (In Light and Darkness) alongside Martin Stenmarck, featured on the concept album Musikäventyret Arn de Gothia.

Her debut solo album Se mig (See Me) was released in 2006 under her maiden name, Krantz. The follow-up album, All I Am, came out in 2011 and included the track Dark Waltz, which won several awards at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards and the Indie Music Channel Awards in the U.S., including Best Classical, Recording of the Year, and Video of the Year.

Viktoria’s third album, Dream It, was released in 2013. In spring 2014, her single We’re Still Young was launched in the U.S., reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Single Sales chart and later winning Best Adult Contemporary at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.

In 2015, she released the live album Viktoria Tocca LIVE at the Metropolitan Room as well as the Christmas EP Merry Christmas, featuring songs such as Athair Ar Neamh, Angels All Around, and Do You Hear What I Hear. That same year, Dream It was released in markets including China and Taiwan, resulting in Viktoria receiving the IFPI Award for Best-Selling Classical Artist in Hong Kong in 2016. The following year, the album also won Vocal Album of the Year at the One World Music Awards in the UK.

Viktoria has appeared in numerous major television productions. In 1997, she placed second in the talent show Scenen är din on Kanal 5. In 2003, she performed as a backing vocalist and dancer in Melodifestivalen for Nanne Grönvall’s entry Evig kärlek. That same year, she performed live on ice during European champion Irina Slutskaya’s exhibition routine at the European Figure Skating Championships, broadcast to 350 million viewers.

In 2007, Viktoria competed in the TV3 show West End Star, an Idol-style competition for both professionals and amateurs vying for a role in Spamalot on London’s West End. Out of over 800 contestants, she ultimately finished in fourth place. Later that year, she recorded the official song Vinterdröm/Nordic Light for the Stockholm International Horse Show and performed it live at the Globe Arena during the event.

Entrepreneurial Spirit and New Challenges

Despite international success, Viktoria found it challenging to establish herself within the Swedish musical theatre scene upon returning home. This realization became the catalyst for her entrepreneurial journey. In 2016, she founded Tocca Entertainment with the aim of creating more opportunities for herself and fellow Swedish musical artists.

Under the banner of Tocca Entertainment, she has produced numerous successful shows, including the critically acclaimed concert series Från Broadway till Duvemåla, which has toured extensively throughout Sweden since its launch in 2016. Other productions include the family show Från Aladdin till Elsa and the Swedish staging of the Broadway musical The Bridges of Madison County. She has also served as producer for large-scale productions at Dalhalla, such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Kristina från Duvemåla, and We Will Rock You.

In addition to her work as an artist and producer, Viktoria established a musical theatre scholarship to support emerging talent, underscoring her dedication to the future of the genre in Sweden.

A Legacy Still in the Making

Through her career, Viktoria Tocca has shown that it is possible to combine artistic passion with entrepreneurial drive. She is one of the few Swedish musical theatre performers to achieve an international career while also building a foundation for the development of musical theatre at home.

With her powerful voice, keen business acumen, and tireless work ethic, she continues to shape the Swedish musical landscape—both on and off the stage. Viktoria’s journey stands as proof that talent, determination, and the courage to forge your own path can lead to remarkable success.
